At Hudacko’s Pharmacy we don’t practice veterinary medicine. We do help veterinarians, animal care specialists, and pet owners solve medication problems by compounding specialized dosage forms to meet the unique needs of each individual animal.

Like humans, animals come in many different sizes. Most medications, however, come in only a few strengths. Using commercially available medications or from pure bulk chemicals, we can create a customized medication in the appropriate strength for the size and weight of your animal. No more trying to break that pill into 4 equal pieces.

Are you tired of your pet spitting out that pill that you so cleverly hid in his food? Are you tired of getting scratched or bitten as you try to force a tablet into your pet’s mouth? We can create a unique dosage form such as a fish flavored suspension for a cat or a beef flavored suspension for a dog that can be put in with food or directly into the animals mouth. Most pets will like the taste and eat it right up.

Some medications can be compounded into a transdermal gel to be applied to the skin and absorbed into the animal’s blood stream. If your pet licks the medication off of the area where it was applied, don’t worry, because the animal still received its dose.

Some medications that have been discontinued by the manufacturer and are no longer available (e.g. Cisapride, Potassium Bromide, ect.) are still desirable for veterinary use. We can compound these medications into appropriate dosage forms for your pet.

Working together with veterinarians and pet owners and using a little imagination we can help you keep your pets healthy and happy!
